Performed a dinghy count of mooring balls and got 39 so confirms BVI Mariner data. At noon only 10 balls occupied. Visibility and variety of sea life at Cistern Point was impressive.
Arrived by 12:30 Pm (Monday) and about 1/3-1/2 of balls open. By 3pm, all balls were taken. However as “day trip” boat left at approximately 3:30 giving 1 lucky late comer a ball. Talked to day trip captain and they frequent here… Note to self: “Look for vesessls advertising “day trip” on sail cover… they may be on your ball.
Diving at point was nice.
Arrived at 11:30 on Friday 4/21 – all balls taken. Spent 2 hours dinghying around the mooring field trying to find an open ball. Finally connected with the guy collecting mooring fees near Cistern Point and he pointed us toward a boat that was leaving. Crazy! Dinner at Cooper Island Beach Club was ok – lunch sitting on the cushioned chairs under the umbrellas was better. Love the rum bar and they have a small shop with dive/snorkel equipment.
